Simple trail, steep ascent in the first part, but easy and scenic.
From Mugello Verde Campsite in San Piero a Sieve (220 m.a.s.l.) we move back up to the Trebbio Castle (435 m.a.s.l.) following the same trail we took coming down.
We take trail (n.19 ) which leads to the summit and Poggio Cigoli (579 m.a.s.l.).
We continue on a wide dirt road past SOFT ring n. 8 and we first reach the ruins of Case Cigoli (558 m.a.s.l.) and then the saddle between Poggio Bucaccia and Poggio Val Fiorana.
The route becomes a narrow path that reaches “Chiesino di Cupo” (513 m.a.s.l.), an ancient mountain church just under the villa of the same name.
We next reach Casa Lavacchio and then Casa Colle (517 m.a.s.l.), a lovely restored villa.
We move left on trail n. 00 at the fork in the road towards the provincial road where we turn right and travel to the Croci di Calenzano Pass (427 m.a.s.l.).
From the pass we take a paved road on the left (n. 44) until we reach a simple, scenic trail lined by cypress trees.
Continuing along this route we reach trail n. 20 RET and the summit of Mount Maggiore (916 m.a.s.l.), the highest peak of Calvana.
Moving along trail 20 to the Croce Pass (745 m.a.s.l.) to the top of mount Prataccio (774 m.a.s.l.) and the locality of Masso Costa (717 m.a.s.l.).
We leave the trail that climbs up to Poggio Brioli on our left and to the top of Poggio Montecuccoli (777 m.a.s.l.) and opt for the path that leads to the very picturesque village of Montecuccoli.
