Centro Polivalente - Sant'Agata - Scarperia
The personages and the scenes of the exhibition have all been created and made by Faliero Lepri (nicknamed Leprino) starting after the war.
Leprino says: "It was about fifty years ago, when I was the owner of a grocery shop, while decorating the shop window for the feasts I had the wish to create something with my own hands, something that was connected to my village, above all to its past".
The watch "was one of the first scenes made, like a return to the past, up to my childhood… then, little by little I found a part of my village and my family in my hands. I used papier mache', woods, motors from record players, I felt then the necessity to unite the fruits of my work in an exhibition".
All the personages are made on a frame of wood, inside which motors from scrap have been fitted in, then covered in papier mache' and dressed in clothes made of material according to the fashion of that time.
The buildings are in cardboard, while the tools and utensils are generally in wood or aluminium.
All the figures are linked to one another by a thick net of electric wires, to enable them to move in synchrony and each figure reproduces faithfully the gestures of its own role.
