Short and easy trail along the ridge in a silent charming setting with beautiful views of Romagna, and also mount Falterona and the Castagno Valley

From the Muraglione Pass (907 m) we move roughly 50 metres towards Forlì; then, once past a forestry building, we take trail 00 to the right.

We continue along the ridge among beautiful views, and touch the tip of Poggio Orticaia (1093 m.a.s.l.).
Past the crest we move down until we reach Colla dei Tre Faggi (990 m.a.s.l.), along 9/ter to Predappio.

Once we cross the provincial road, we take the forestry trail  to Poggio Usciaioli (1099 m.a.s.l.) and Poggio Piano (1142 m.a.s.l.).
We move east of Poggio di Giogo (1158 m) and reach the Giogo di Castagno (1075 m).
The road to the right falls steeply to trail n. 14/A which leads to Castagno d’Andrea and the GEA trail, Ring n.1 and the Main Ring.

The route touches on the ruins of Casa Ripalta, crosses a chestnut wood and moves on past  the Casini farmhouse before reaching Castagno (727 m.a.s.l.).

ALTERNATE MTB TRAIL

From Giogo di Castagno we can move down to Castagno along the forestry trail until we reach  Passo Piancancelli.  From here  we move right along a road, which is first rocky and then paved, that dips towards Fonte del Borbotto and Castagno.
