When the travellers coming from Faenza reach the station at Borgo San Lorenzo they could choose the route to Florence that goes along the Valley of the river Sieve instead of the Faentina 03line.The line infact at times, passes very near the left or right bank of the river.

From the train window the eyes meet a rich and varied landscape: a line of cypress trees that lead to a Villa often hidden among the trees of an age-old park, ancient farm cottages on top of a hill, the massif of Monte Giove on the right, Monte Falterona in the background and the ridge of the Tosco-Romagnolo Apennines on the left.

Leaving Borgo San Lorenzo the line reaches Vicchio which is Giotto’s and Beato Angelico’s birth place: here the valley bottom is still vast but it closes a little after, in the vicinity of Dicomano.

The line bends towards South reaching the station of Contea/Londa. From here the landscape designed by the Sieve and its tributaries becomes sweeter with soft hilly tops cultivated by rows of vines often interrupted by the grey foliage of the olive trees.

After passing the station in Rufina, famous for its excellent Chianti wine which bears the same name, the line skirts the main Forlivese road and reaches  Pontassieve where the Sieve flows together with the Arno.

From here to the main station Firenze Santa Maria Novella in Florence, the train continues its route on the line coming from Rome.
