The city was founded by the Romans in 175 B.C. but it reached its maximum splendour during the Manfredi reign. Interesting medieval constructions, refined 18th and 19th century palaces and remarkable religious buildings line the streets of the historical centre. The art of majolica was developed in Faenza in the 14th century, and Faenza ceramics are, today, famous all over the world. Not to be missed: the historical centre Liberty Square, People’s Square, the Cathedral, Masini Theatre, the Town Hall, Milzetti Palace and the important International Museum of Ceramics.
