The Thursday Farmers’ Market”: a sustainable event in Mugello with local products, events, and culture.
Borgo San Lorenzo, May 14 – “Live Sport” Comes to the Thursday Farmers’ Market!
The Thursday Farmers’ Market officially joins the program of “Vivi lo Sport” (“Live Sport”), the long-standing event promoted by the Pro Loco of Borgo San Lorenzo, with a special day dedicated to wellbeing, sport, sustainability, and community.
The event will take place on Thursday, May 14, in the outdoor area of Proforma, located at Via Sacco e Vanzetti 26 in Borgo San Lorenzo, where from 4:00 PM onwards local farm producers’ stalls will be open alongside a rich program of free activities for all ages.
The inclusion of the Farmers’ Market in the Vivi lo Sport program strengthens the connection between healthy lifestyles, sustainable food, physical activity, and community spirit — values that have always been at the heart of the market project.
An Afternoon of Sport, Health, and Culture
The day’s program will begin at 5:00 PM with the children’s workshop “Hit the Target!”, organized by the Associazione Sottobosco from Vicchio. This playful and creative activity, part of the “Month of Weaving” initiative, is designed to encourage play and manual skills through handcrafted materials.
At 5:30 PM, the focus will shift to sports culture with the presentation of the book Bartali 1936, dedicated to Gino Bartali’s historic victory in the Giro d'Italia ninety years ago. The meeting will feature Marco Pasquini, one of the book’s authors, and will provide an opportunity to explore the Tuscan champion’s legacy and the connection between cycling, local identity, and sporting memory.
From 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, the market will host an open “Breath Yoga” class led by Yoga nel Mugello: an experience open to everyone, focused on physical and mental wellbeing and breath awareness, immersed in the welcoming atmosphere of the outdoor market. In case of bad weather, the activity will take place at the “Yoga nel Mugello” studio in Via Guido Rossa 8, Borgo San Lorenzo.
The day will conclude at 7:00 PM with the talk and discussion “Feed Sport”, together with nutritionist Erika Annunzi, dedicated to the relationship between nutrition, physical activity, and wellbeing. The discussion will focus on food as a “natural supplement” capable of supporting sports performance, physical recovery, and everyday health through conscious dietary choices.
Throughout the event, an outdoor farmers’ aperitif will also be available, accompanied by music and local products.
