The Coop Members Section of Borgo San Lorenzo is organizing a series of three community trekking events through the woods surrounding Polcanto, taking place between April and June 2026. Following the success of the first walk, participants are invited to join the second event on Saturday, June 6.
The trek will follow a circular route starting and ending in Polcanto (Church of San Clemente), reaching Località Capannaccia, where a lunch break is scheduled.
Along the route, participants will stop at six informational panels created by volunteers from the Ellera Association. These panels feature stories and anecdotes highlighting the influence of notable historical figures in the Polcanto area and surrounding lands.
Through readings and storytelling moments during the hike, participants will reflect on the historical importance of these very paths and explore connections between past and present, particularly regarding the theme of global conflicts.
Program
- 9:00 AM – Meeting point at the parking area in Via San Donato, Polcanto, and car organization to reach the starting point
- 9:30 AM – Start of the trek from the Church of San Clemente
- 12:30 PM – Lunch break at Località Capannaccia
- Around 3:30 PM – Return to the Church of San Clemente
Technical Details
- Distance: approximately 9 km on secondary roads and woodland trails
- Elevation gain: 250 meters total
- Estimated duration: about 6 hours and 30 minutes, including stops and lunch break
Notes
- Dogs are welcome but must remain on a leash
- Long trousers and trekking shoes are recommended
- Trekking poles are optional
- In case of bad weather, the event will be cancelled
- Participants should bring water and a packed lunch
Sandwiches and local flatbreads can also be purchased at the Coop store in Polcanto on the morning of the event. Participants choosing this option are advised to arrive slightly earlier than the meeting time.
