An excursion by GoticaLaVia
Monte Giovi, a mountain steeped in history, stories and lives linked to resistance. From San Martino to Scopeto, with GoticaLaVia you follow the path to the church of Barbiana, where Don Lorenzo Milani founded his school, an experimental educational reality that still stands as a stimulus for reflection in educational thought. From there we will continue our journey along the paths of partisan resistance that saw Monte Giovi as a place of welcome and meeting place to organize the liberation struggle. A path in which the streets of many people meet, creating paths that still resist in the memory and history of our time.
- MEETING: at 9:00 am in "La casa del prosciutto" Via del Ponte 1, 50039 Vicchio Italia where we can have breakfast and buy any lunch. We will then take the cars to go to San Martino a Scopeto (5 km away) from where our excursion will begin.
- ARRIVAL at about 16.00.
- LENGTH: 12 Km approx.
- HEIGHT DIFFERENCE: 400 meters.
- DIFFICULTY': easy, with a slightly more challenging climb.
- LUNCH: packet lunch with at least 1.5 l of water.
- CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT: we recommend clothing suitable for hiking, windbreaker, hiking boots are required.
