Vespignano - Vicchio
The House of Giotto is surely one of the most interesting stops during a trip to Vicchio.
Situated on the lovely hill of Vespignano, just below the Church of San Martino, this old and simple medieval building has been altered more than once over the centuries.
Many restorations and studies discovered that this small building was an adjoining extension of a manor house.
The House of Giotto, besides being of historical interest, offers the possibility of visiting the Museum on exhibition inside the house.
After a year-long dispute, it is now considered the real birthplace of Giotto di Bondone (1267 - 1337), born in a peasant family and became the genius who, in the pre- Renaissance, operated the great renewal in the world art.
